Box Score

BEVERLY, MA - Valerie Feldman (Albany, NY/Guilderland) and Alex Pearce (Underhill, VT/Kimball Union) combined for six goals and six assists as the Endicott College women's lacrosse team defeated CCC rival New England College, 16-10 on Saturday afternoon in Beverly.

The Gulls jumped out to the early lead as Samantha Morin (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) beat NEC goalie Jen Carboni (Canton, CT/Kingswood Oxford) on a free position shot 2:30 into the contest. The Pilgrims answered back with a pair of goals from Makaila Sinclair (Marblehead, MA/Marblehead) but the blue and green responded by outscoring NEC 7-3 over the final 24 minutes of play in the first half to take a 8-5 lead into the break.

Emily Judd (Peabody, MA/Peabody) opened the second half scoring just over two minutes into the frame when she took a feed from Shiori Tachiwana (Kanagawa, Japan) and beat Carboni to put EC up by four. Sinclair answered right back once again with her fourth goal of the contest and every time it looked like the Gulls would pull away the Pilgrims seemed to find the net keeping the game within reach.

Following another Feldman goal Ashley Watkins (Mt. Pleasant, SC/Wando) cut the EC lead to two as she beat senior goalie Erin Curry (Hampstead, NH/Gould Academy) making it a 9-7 game. The Pilgrims momentum would be short lived however as Judd responded just ten seconds later to give the blue and green a 10-7 lead. Judd's goal sparked the Gulls offense to life as they would go one to out score NEC two-to-one over the final 23 minutes taking the 16-10 win.

The reigning CCC Rookie of the Week, Feldman netted four goals and picked up three assists for a game high seven points, increasing her team lead in all three categories and giving EC the edge it needed to pull away from the Pilgrims. Pearce was also an offensive force, scoring two goals of her own and adding three assists.

Endicott also got three goals from Judd and a pair from Sara Gunter (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk), while Morin, Tachiwana, Rebecca Bushnell (Guilford, CT/Guilford) and Kristen Micho (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) all added single goals. Freshman Breanna Cottone (Middleton, MA/Masconomet) also chipped in with a goal and an assist, while Curry made 10 saves to pick up the win on senior day.

Sinclair paced New England College as she scored four times, while Emily Tanguay (Manchester, NH/Manchester West) and Casey McFarland (Webster, NH/Merrimack Valley) added three and two goals respectively for the Pilgrims.

Endicott improves to 7-5 overall and 4-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the win. The Gulls return to action Tuesday afternoon with a game against CCC rival the University of New England in Beverly. The two teams are set to face off at 4:00 pm. EC closes out its season with a pair of road games at Colby-Sawyer and Salve Regina.
