BEVERLY, MA - A first half hat trick from Kristen Micho (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) helped the Endicott College women's lacrosse team to a 14-4 win over Commonwealth Coast Conference rivals Nichols College on Saturday afternoon in Beverly.
Endicott took an early lead thanks to a 3-0 scoring run midway through the first half that gave the Gulls some separation on the scoreboard and a 4-1 advantage. Nichols cut the EC lead to two with twelve minutes left in the half after Jessica Porter (Melrose, MA/Melrose) beat EC goalie Erin Curry (Hampstead, NH/Gould Academy) but that's as close as the Bison would come as Endicott got a pair of goals from Kristen Micho and Samantha Morin (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) to send the Gulls into the half-time break with an 8-4 lead.
Endicott scored seven unanswered goals, including six in the second frame to secure the 14-4 win. CCC Rookie of the Week Valerie Feldman (Albany, NY/Guilderland) netted two goals raising her season tally to a team leading 19, while Alex Pearce (Underhill, VT/Kimball Union) dished out two assists and scored two of her three goals in the second half.
Pearce, Micho and Morin all finished with three goals each while Molly Moss (Yarmouth, ME/NYA), Sara Gunter (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) and Hannah Pelletier (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) also added goals for Endicott. Erin Curry five saves in the first half to pick up the win while sophomoreMolly Hamel (North Yarmouth, ME/Greely) shutout the Bison making eight saves in the second half to seal the win for EC.
Endicott improves to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. Endicott is home Monday against Keene State for a rescheduled contest. The Gulls continue their conference schedule as they head to New London, NH to take on Colby-Sawyer College on Wednesday April 4 at 3:30 pm, before returning home on Tuesday April 10 when EC hosts Curry College at 4:00 pm on the turf.
