Medford, MA - The Endicott College women's lacrosse team dropped a tough non-conference game to Tufts University, 19-5 on Thursday afternoon on a rain soaked Bello Field in Medford, MA.

Endicott jumped out to an early lead as junior Emily Judd (Peabody, MA/Peabody) capitalized on a free-position shot just 53 seconds into the game for a 1-0 Gulls lead.

The Jumbos broke the game open after going up 5-2 by scoring 10 straight goals and taking a 15-2 advantage into intermission. Jenna Abelli scored five goals in the first half for Tufts and added two assists.

The second half was much of the same as Tufts maintained a 10 goal lead. Sophomore Sara Gunter (Kennebunk, ME.Kennebunk), who had an assist in the first half, netted a goal of her own in the second half and Valerie Feldman (Albany, NY/Guilderland) scored two goals in the loss. Senior Erin Curry (Hampstead, NH/Gould Academy) made 17 saves in the Endicott cage.

Sophomore Courtney Thomas (Needham, MA) scored six goals for the second straight game, and freshman Jenna Abelli (Framingham, MA) added five for the Jumbos

EC falls to 5-4 overall and will try to get back on the winning track on Saturday afternoon when the Gulls head to Waltham, MA to take on conference foe Regis College at 1:00 pm.
