Men’s Volleyball Drops Two To Illinois Tech & Aurora

AURORA, Ill. — The Endicott men's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to Illinois Tech (3-1) and Aurora (3-0) on Saturday evening at Thornton Gymnasium.

MATCH ONE: Illinois Tech 3, Endicott 1 (29-31, 23-25, 25-19, 22-25)

Career highs were the story despite the loss in match one.

Will Perry (San Mateo, Calif.) posted a match-high/career-high 14 kills to highlight the Gulls.

Finn McCaffrey (Redding, Conn.) also notched a career-high 11 kills in the setback.

Meanwhile, Gabe DeBenedetto (Rockford, Ill.) facilitated the offense behind a career-high 50 assists, and Vance Mallory (Playa del Rey, Calif.) had a career-high 13 digs.


MATCH TWO: Aurora 3, Endicott 0 (20-25, 24-26, 19-25)

Rafa Robert (San Juan, Puerto Rico) led the way with a match-high 14 kills.

Mason Mallory (Playa del Rey, Calif.) also chipped in with 10 kills and nine digs, while DeBenedetto ran the attack via 30 assists.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Aurora has won seven matches in a row (6-6 at home).
  • DeBenedetto has dished out 124 assists in his last three matches, which includes back-to-back career-high performances prior to Aurora (44, 50, 30).
  • The Gulls went 1-2 on their trip to Illinois.
