Lasell Holds Off Men’s Volleyball, 3-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team fell to Lasell, 3-1, by scores of 17-25, 22-25, 25-22, and 20-25 in non-conference action on Thursday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Nikolas Kasprzak (Windham, N.H.) led the Gulls with nine kills on 13 swings (.615), three digs, and one block assist.

Rafa Robert (San Juan, Puerto Rico) chipped in with eight kills, while Mason Mallory (Playa del Rey, Calif.) and Spencer Capps (Lake Bluff, Ill.) had seven apiece.

Gabe DeBenedetto (Rockford, Ill.) ran the offense via 36 assists (85 attempts, .424).

Tonight's match featured 15 ties (0-2-0-13) and seven lead changes (0-1-0-6). The fourth set featured several late ties including scores of 18-18, 19-19, and 20-20 before Lasell capitalized on two kills and three errors to lock up the win.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Mallory paced the team in digs (7), receptions (24), reception attempts (26, .923), and receptions-to-kills (11-26, .423).
  • Brady Mullens (Aurora, Colo.) hit a season-high .625 tonight (5 kills, 0 errors, 8 attempts).
  • Lasell earned its second road win of the season tonight.
  • The Lasers are receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Poll.

Endicott (1-4) visits Wentworth on Saturday, February 18 at 1 PM. Lasell (5-4) takes on Emmanuel (10 AM) and Colby-Sawyer (12 PM) this Saturday in Boston, Mass.
