No. 7 St. John Fisher Holds Off Endicott, 3-1

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's volleyball team lost to No. 7 nationally ranked St. John Fisher, 3-1, by scores of 12-25, 23-25, 25-22, and 18-25 in non-conference action on Thursday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Rafa Robert (San Juan, Puerto Rico) posted a match-high 16 kills (.333), six digs, and three block assists to highlight the Gulls.

Spencer Capps (Lake Bluff, Ill.) chipped in with seven kills and seven digs, while Gabe DeBenedetto (Rockford, Ill.) facilitated the offense with a match-high 31 assists.

Tonight's match featured 10 ties (1-6-1-2) and six lead changes (1-3-1-1). 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls led 19-15 in set two before the visitors rallied with a 10-4 run to grab a 2-0 advantage on the scoreboard.
  • Endicott trailed in set two by a 7-3 margin, but capitalized on a 14-4 spurt to force a timeout by the Cardinals at the 17-14 mark.
  • Robert produced a set-high/match-high seven kills in Endicott's set three victory.
  • The Cardinals held off Endicott in set four with the score positioned at 18-16 via a 7-2 run.
  • St. John Fisher broke the 1-1 tie in the all-time series with tonight's win.
  • The Cardinals have won three matches in a row.

Endicott (3-7) hosts Northern Vermont-Johnson on Saturday, March 11 at 1 PM. No. 7 St. John Fisher (16-5) visits MIT this Saturday at 1 PM.
