Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Rivier, 3-0; Capps Sets Single-Match Program Hitting Percentage Record

NASHUA, N.H. – Fueled by a match-high 17 kills from Spencer Capps (Lake Bluff, Ill.), the Endicott men's volleyball team downed Rivier, 3-0, by scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-16 in non-conference action on Friday night at Muldoon Gymnasium.

Capps produced a program-best .773 hitting percentage (min. 20 attempts) behind a 17-kills/0-errors/22-attempts line.

His .733 hitting percentage topped the previous mark held by Matt Keepin '07 (19-1-25, .720, vs. New Paltz, Feb. 10, 2007) by more than .50 percentage points.

Mason Mallory (Playa del Rey, Calif.) also contributed eight putaways, while Rafa Robert (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and Nikolas Kasprzak (Windham, N.H.) notched six kills apiece.

Gabe DeBenedetto (Rockford, Ill.) facilitated the offense via 33 assists on 51 attempts (.647).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Tonight's match only featured four ties (3-1-0) and two lead changes (2-0-0).
  • Robert was 12-for-12 on serve-receive with 10 correlating in kills.
  • Vance Mallory (Playa del Rey, Calif.) saw four of his team-high five digs (three-way tie) result in putaways.
  • Capps had six kills in set one, three in set two, and eight in set three (8-0-10).

Endicott (1-3) hosts No. 14 nationally ranked Lasell on Wednesday, February 15 at 7 PM. Rivier (2-4) visits Regis next Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
