BEVERLY, Mass. - Endicott College went 2-0 on day one of their "March Mania" Invitational and will advance to the Gold Bracket on Sunday. In their first match of the day, the Gulls down the Wildcats of JWU, 3-0 (30-26, 30-26 and 30-20). Then in the nightcap, ninth-ranked Endicott defeated fifteenth-ranked Ramapo, 3-0 (30-26, 33-31 and 30-25). The Gulls will now face \#10 SUNY New Paltz at Noon on Sunday.
In the win over JWU, Jeremy Fontaine picked up a team high 11 kills and was followed closely by Eddie Marchand's 9 and Mike Coflesky's 7. Russ Friedland dished out 28 assists while Eric Hunter and Coflesky each picked up 6 digs.
Against Ramapo, Endicott set a new team record with 55 kills in a three-game match. The Gulls were led by Fontaine and Marchand who each hammered down 16 kills with Hunter picking up 13 in the effort. Russ Friedland handed out 46 assists while also picking up three blocks. Brandon Ecker picked up 10 digs while anchoring the serve receive.
The Gulls will now face \#10 SUNY New Paltz in a noon match. The winner and loser of that match will face the winner and loser of the Rivier - D'Youville match (also being played at noon) at 4:00 PM.
