BEVERLY, Mass. -- No. 11 Endicott College hosted No. 12 Vassar College in the first meeting between these two programs today. The Gulls, facing their second ranked opponent in as many matches, continued their solid play downing the Brewers 3-1. After coming out and winning the first game 30-14, EC dropped a tight second game 34-32. The Gulls then closed out the match by the scores of 30-19 and 30-23. Endicott now improves to 13-5 overall and extends their win-streak to 5 matches.
Eddie Marchand put up career high's in both kills and hitting %, knocking down 23 kills with only three errors in 35 attempts for a .571%, while also contributing five aces and four blocks. Jeremy Fontaine's performance was a close second, picking up 21 kills and serving up 3 aces. Russ Friedland dished out 56 assists and directed the Gulls to a .412% hitting percentage for the match. Other noteworthy performances included Brandon Ecker's 12 digs, Eric Hunter's 39 error-free receives and George Chapell's 4 aces.
The Brewers were led by the solid net play of Ian Roth and Steve Gilhool and the ball control of Kyle Giunta.
The Gulls will now return to action on Tuesday, when they will travel to No. 7 Rivier for a 7:00 PM NECVA New England matchup.
