Men’s Tennis Falls To Wheaton (Mass.), 6-3

NORTON, Mass. — The Endicott men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Wheaton (Mass.) in non-conference action on Saturday evening at Beard Field House.

In doubles, George Danes (Old Lyme, Conn.) and Julian Richtarich (Naples, Fla.) picked up the lone point for the Gulls with an 8-4 victory at the No. 3 slot.

Danes followed with a convincing 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, while Antonio Marsallo (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) turned in a gritty 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 triumph at No. 3 singles to round out the list of highlights for the Gulls.

"It's always frustrating to lose a close match, but we have a lot of positives we can take away," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "Mentally, we need to be more disciplined, but we also showed a lot of fight today."

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Lyons earned their first home victory of the season (1-1).
  • Danes is 2-3 in singles play (1-2 at No. 4).
  • Marsallo earned his first singles victory (1-5, 1-0 at No. 4).
  • Danes and Richtarich paired up in doubles for the first time this season.
