Men's Soccer Tops Wheaton, 3-1

NORTON, Mass. — The Endicott men's soccer team defeated Wheaton, 3-1, on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Nordin Field.

The Gulls got the scoring started early, as Conor Rooney (Monroe, Conn.) netted his second goal of the season in the fourth minute. Rooney was set up by freshman Aidan Sheehan (Arlington, Mass.), the Gulls' leading point-getter on the year.

After Wheaton hit the equalizer in the eighth minute, captain Tiago Frazao (Trumbull, Conn.) scored his second goal of the season in the 27th minute to reclaim the lead for good.

The game remained a 2-1 battle until Cole Fergusson (South Salem, N.Y.) notched his first of the season in the 79th minute, giving the Gulls some late insurance in the win.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Sheehan leads all CCC freshmen in points with six (two goals, two assists).
  • Kyle Rosa (Norton, Mass.) made his first start of the season in a personal homecoming game, and he showed out with seven saves in the lockdown performance.
  • Konrad Krysztoforski (Bydgoszcz, Poland), Tim Lynch (Groton, Conn.), and Hayden Laske (Wethersfield, Conn.) each played the full 90 in a strong defensive effort.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (3-5-1) returns to Hempstead Stadium on Wednesday, September 27 to take on Coast Guard at 4 PM. Wheaton (2-2-4) hosts Bowdoin on Saturday, September 30 at 2 PM.
