Rooney's Brace Leads Men's Soccer Over Nor'Easters On Senior Day, 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's soccer team knocked off the University of New England, 3-0, on Tuesday afternoon in conference action at Hempstead Stadium.

Prior to the match, seniors Joe Akisik (Sudbury, Mass.), Jason Brodeur (Hanson, Mass.), Joe Cusack (Foxboro, Mass.), Tiago Frazao (Trumbull, Conn.), Jack Hayden (Richmond, Vt.), Max Karkos (Wethersfield, Conn.), Hayden Laske (Wethersfield, Conn.), Joe Mepham (Sudbury, Mass.), Brett Roy (Newport, Vt.), and Percival Sibanda (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) were all honored for their contributions to the men's soccer program and the Endicott community. 

Conor Rooney (Monroe, Conn.) got the scoring started in the 39th minute, as he netted his third tally of the season off an assist from Fisher Mills (Ridgefield, Conn.).

Cole Fergusson (South Salem, N.Y.) cashed in the second goal of the night in the 59th minute, as he was able to nail a one-timer off of another slick feed from Mills.

Rooney put a stamp on the win in the 76th minute with his second of the night. Gavin Goodlad (Rockville Center, N.Y.) was credited with an assist on the play, as Rooney followed up Goodlad's shot for the score.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • After today's match, Endicott leads the all-time series with a record of 19-5-1.
  • Goodlad recorded his first career point on Rooney's second goal.
  • Kevin Pelletier (Topsfield, Mass.) earned the win and improved to 5-3-0 on the season.
  • Rooney recorded his first career multi-goal game.
  • Fergusson has notched two goals in the last three matches for the Gulls.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (8-6-4, 4-3-1 CCC) will compete in the CCC Playoffs, starting this Saturday. The CCC will announce the playoff bracket later this week. UNE finishes out its season with a 1-12-5 overall record (0-6-2 CCC).
