Austin Teal Leads Gulls for Second Straight Invitational

CRANSTON, R.I.-  Freshman Austin Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) finished in a three-way tie for 20th at the Johnson & Wales Invitational at the Cranston Country Club.  He was able to shoot a combined total of 160 (84, 76) as he improved his first round score by eight shots.  This marks the second straight tournament that Teal has led the team in scoring.  Endicott finished in a tie for ninth out of 15 squads as the Gulls have one tournament on Monday before heading into the CCC playoffs on Saturday, April 27th.

Teal was followed closely by Jackson Wyman (South Freeport, Maine) as the senior finished two strokes back with a 162 (82, 80).  Just two strokes back of Wyman was Ian Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) who took six strokes off his first round score to finish with a 164 (85, 79).  Brian Gallo (Trumbull, Conn.) also improved greatly on his first round score as he went from an 87 to an 81 to record a two-round total of 168.  Rounding out the scoring for the Gulls was Dan Sullivan (South Hadley, Mass.).  The junior recorded rounds of 87 and 84 to finish with a two-round total 171 and a tie for 53rd out of the 75 golfers that participated.

Every Gull took at least two shots off their first round total with the highest improvement from round to round being Austin Teal's eight stroke improvement.  Heading into the final round, Endicott sat alone in 11th place.  Following the team's strong push on Sunday, their finish improved to ninth.  Austin Teal's personal improvement took him from being tied for 40th to his 20th position after all was said and done.

The Gulls are at the Blackstone Country Club in Sutton Mass. today as they take on Worcester State University.  This is the final tune-up before Endicott hosts the CCC Championship at the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club.
