Gulls Finish Fifth at NEIGA Championships

BREWSTER, Mass.-  Jackson Wyman (South Freeport, Maine) shot a single round 77 to tie for 12th as Endicott finished fifth out of 35 teams at the NEIGA Championships.  Freshman Austin Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) and junior Nick Erlichman (Shrewsbury, Mass.) both tied for 26th after shooting rounds of 79 which rounded out the top three for the Gulls.  Due to the impending storm of Hurricane Sandy, the event was shortened to 18 holes instead of the scheduled 36.

Captain Jack Carroll (West Hartford, Conn.) tied for 40th after recording a round of 80.  Ian Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) completed the top five for the Gulls as he placed in a tie for 105.  Teal shot a round of 85 on the day.

One hundred and seventy-one golfers from Divisions I, II and III competed.  The New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) has been in existence since 1934 and includes 47 member colleges and universities in New England and New York and is considered to be the oldest and largest college golf tournament. It is unique in that Divisions I, II and III compete together.

Endicott's 315 team score was just three shots off the Division III low score.  UMass Dartmouth shot a 312 to lead Division III schools as the event.  Endicott's score topped all of the Division I squads and was behind only Division II schools UMass Lowell (311), Saint Anselm College (311) and Division III schools UMass Dartmouth (312) and Husson (313).
