Gulls Finish Fourth at ECAC New England DIII Championship

BERNARDSTON, Mass.-  The Endicott College men's golf team went into the ECAC New England DIII Championship tournament having placed in the top five in every in every invitational the team has entered this season.  The Gulls made sure not to break that streak as the team finished fourth out of 14 teams for the two day event.

Nick Erlichman (Shrewsbury, Mass.) led Endicott for the second straight week as the junior shot a combined 157.  Erlichman was able to shoot an opening round 78 and finished day two with a 79 which was crucial in helping him finish in a tie for fourth.  Erlichman entered the day in a tie for eighth and when the majority of scores were on the rise, Erlichman's consistency was pivotal.  The combined 157 was five shots off the winning score of 152, and three back of the runner-up.

Right behind Erlichman was freshman Austin Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.).  Teal closed day one in a tie for eleventh after shooting an opening round of 79.  Teal, who had two top 10 finishes already on the season, closed with a round of 80 for a combined 159 which was enough to finish in a tie for seventh.

Austin's brother Ian Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) continued the Gulls' solid play as the junior shot a two day total of 164 which tied him for 15th.  Ian was in a tie for 25th as day one came to an end with a score of 84.  Knowing that he wanted to be aggressive and improve on his standing, Teal came out on day two and shot an 80 to improve his place by 10 spots.

Jackson Wyman finished tied for 38th after shooting a combined 173 for the two days.

Endicott now has a week of practice before heading to Brewster, Mass. for the NEIGA Championship hosted by The Captains Course.  The Championship is a three day event that kicks off on Saturday and goes through Monday.  Endicott competed in the Championship last season and finished in a tie for 11th out of 34 squads.
