Men’s Basketball Stifles Curry On Senior Day, 90-58

BEVERLY, Mass. — In front of a packed MacDonald Gymnasium, the Endicott men's basketball team defeated Curry, 90-58, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the game, graduate students Stephen Fama (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Dillon Grant (Dennis, Mass.) along with seniors Cam Homsey (Windham, N.H.) and Ty Vitko (Dover, N.H.) were all honored for their contributions to the men's basketball program and the entire Endicott College community in a Senior Day ceremony.

Vitko led all scorers with 19 points (7-16 FG, 3-10 3PT, 2-2 FT).

Fama added his first double-double of the 2022-23 campaign via a career-high 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Jeff Hill (Lynn, Mass.) and Mark Barrett (Brookline, Mass.) chipped in with 13 and 10 points, respectively. 

In the opening stanza, both squads traded baskets for the first 13 minutes of action before a 21-4 spurt propelled Endicott into the break with a 40-22 lead.

The run was ignited by Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) (6), Barrett (5), Hill (4), Grant (2), Liam Dunfee (Nahant, Mass.) (2), and Vitko (2). 

From there, the Gulls sustained their first-half momentum with a 25-6 stretch to build up an 80-51 advantage with 4:41 to play and never looked back. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls have won the last 20 meetings against Curry dating back to 1/11/2014.
  • Endicott's bench outscored Curry's reserves, 38-18.
  • Tallon Craver (Pepperell, Mass.) collected his first two collegiate points this afternoon.
  • The Blue and Green out-rebounded Curry, 44-27.
  • The Gulls turned the Colonels over 22 times resulting in 28 points off those miscues.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (14-9, 10-6 CCC) visits Roger Williams on Wednesday, February 15 at 7:30 PM. Curry (4-19, 2-14 CCC) travels to the University of New England (UNE) this Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
