Western New England Slips Past Men’s Basketball, 82-75

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Endicott College men's basketball team fell to Western New England, 82-75, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Thursday evening.

Mark Barrett (Brookline, Mass.) led the Gulls with a career-high 22 points (8-12 FG, 5-6 3PT) alongside four rebounds and three assists. 

Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) added 19 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while Jeff Hill (Lynn, Mass.) chipped in with 15 points. 

From the opening tip, the Gulls seized early momentum powered by a 21-5 scoring run that spanned over the first 5:31 of the matchup. The early start was ignited by Barrett (8), Echevarria (7), Cam Homsey (Windham, N.H.) (3), and Hill (3). 

Western New England responded later in the half with a 13-5 run of its own to cut Endicott's lead to a slim five points, 31-26, with 6:08 remaining in the first half. 

The Golden Bears continued to chip away at Endicott's lead in the second stanza tying the contest at 72-72 with 3:04 left. 

With the score knotted at 75-75 with 1:40 to play, the Golden Bears finished the game on a 10-0 run to remain undefeated in conference play. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Despite the loss, Endicott holds a 17-11 advantage in the all-time series.
  • Echevarria and Hill have scored in double figures in all five CCC games this season.
  • The Golden Bears outscored the Gulls 50-14 in the paint. 

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (8-4, 4-1 CCC) hosts Wentworth Saturday, January 7 at 3:00 PM. Western New England (9-3, 5-0 CCC) travels to Salve Regina also on Saturday at 3:00 PM.
