Conference-Leading Nichols Tops Men’s Basketball, 93-78

BEVERLY, Mass. — In front of a packed house at MacDonald Gymnasium, the Endicott men's basketball team fell to Nichols, 93-78, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Wednesday evening.

Tonight's game served as the program's Black History Month Game to inspire the Endicott community to think, talk, and act to make our campus a more knowledgeable, equitable, and engaged place.

As for the matchup, Jeff Hill (Lynn, Mass.) led the Gulls with 22 points (8-15 FG, 3-6 3PT, 3-3 FT) to go along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Mark Barrett (Brookline, Mass.) also filled up the stat sheet with 11 points, eight boards, and six dimes.

In the opening stanza, Nichols raced out to a 16-4 advantage.

Endicott responded with a 16-3 run of its own to deadlock the game at 32-32 with 2:47 left. The run was fueled by Stephen Fama (Lynnfield, Mass.) (5), Hill (4), Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) (3), Dillon Grant (Dennis, Mass.) (2), and Barrett (2). 

Nichols countered an 8-5 run down the stretch to take a 40-37 advantage into the break. 

In the second stanza, both teams traded runs for the first 10 minutes before a Nichols 11-0 stretch ignited the Bison to a 71-59 lead with 8:52 remaining. 

Nichols ended up finishing the game on a 14-4 run to pick up the road conference triumph. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Nichols gained the edge in the all-time series, 22-21.
  • The Gulls are 6-1 in CCC home games this season.
  • Of Nichols' 93 points, 48 of them came in the painted area.
  • Endicott's reserves outscored Nichols' bench, 20-7.
  • Nichols finished plus-seven on the glass, 45-38.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (12-8, 8-5 CCC) travels to Wentworth on Saturday, February 4 at 3:00 PM. Nichols (15-5, 11-2 CCC) hosts Suffolk this Saturday at 3:00 PM.
