Men’s Basketball Downs Salve Regina, 69-56

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's basketball team defeated Salve Regina, 69-56, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Saturday afternoon at the MacDonald Gymnasium. 

Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) powered the Gulls with 17 points and three rebounds. 

Stephen Fama (Lynnfield, Mass.) produced 15 points alongside four rebounds. 

The Gulls also received solid performances from Jeff Hill (Lynn, Mass.) and Ty Vitko (Dover, N.H.) as the duo registered 12 and 9 points, respectively.

Trailing 34-28 at halftime, Endicott snagged a 52-45 lead courtesy of a 7-0 spurt from a Vitko three-pointer and back-to-back buckets by Echevarria to force a Salve Regina timeout.

Following that, Endicott gained control for the rest of the contest via a 13-2 run to ignite a 65-53 lead with 1:35 to play. The stretch was fueled by Hill (6), Fama (3), Parker McLaren (Newburyport, Mass.) (2), and Echevarria (2). 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott holds the all-time edge against Salve Regina, 27-18.
  • This marks the 6th time in Kevin Bettencourt's nine seasons as a head coach at Endicott that the Gulls have registered 12 or more CCC wins. 
  • Barrett added a career-high six steals.
  • The Blue and Green turned the visitors over 25 times resulting in 29 points off those miscues.
  • The Gulls reserves outscored the Seahawks bench, 21-6.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (16-9, 12-6 CCC) will host Roger Williams (13-12, 10-8 CCC) on Tuesday, February 21 for a CCC Tournament quarterfinal matchup at 7 PM.
