MEDFORD, Mass. — The Endicott men's basketball team lost to Tufts, 82-71, in the Big 4 Challenge Championship game on Sunday evening at Cousens Gymnasium.
Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) poured in a game-high 23 points (7-17 FG, 1-5 3PT, 8-12 FT) to highlight the Gulls and earn a spot on the Big 4 Challenge All-Tournament Team.
Parker McLaren (Newburyport, Mass.) also added 14 points and five rebounds, while Mark Barrett (Brookline, Mass.) chipped in with nine points and eight boards.
Trailing 42-35 with 19:25 remaining in the second half, the Gulls used a 10-3 run spanning 4:11 (18:59-14:48) to take a 45-44 advantage on the scoreboard.
Dillon Grant (Dennis, Mass.) got the run started with a layup, Barrett swished a three-ball (44-42, 17:21), and Echevarria led the charge with five points to account for the scoring.
From there, both teams traded buckets until the 9:53 mark (58-56) before the Jumbos pulled away via a 12-0 run (70-56, 6:17) and never looked back.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Today's game featured 10 ties and five lead changes.
- Tufts leads the all-time series 3-0.
- McLaren scored a career-high 14 points (previous high 10; twice versus Roger Williams).

Endicott (2-1) hosts Middlebury on Sunday, November 27 at 2 PM. Tufts (3-0) welcomes MIT to its campus on Tuesday, November 22 at 7 PM.
