Beverly, MA - Tonight in men's basketball action, the Endicott Gulls matched up against Commonwealth Coast Conference rival, Colby-Sawyer. Coming into the game, the Gulls were second in the CCC North Division, while the Chargers were first. EC cruised to an 83-53 victory, handing the Chargers their first CCC loss of the season.
The Gulls were led by the hot shooting of junior guard, Matt George. George was 12-14 from the field, 2-2 from behind the arc, making him the game's leading scorer with 26 points. Both George and fellow teammate Josh Oxton, grabbed eight rebounds each. Oxton was the team's second leading scorer (14), shooting perfect from the free throw line going 6-for-6. Sophomore Nemanja Marinkovic chipped in 11 points for the Gulls, who was also perfect from the charity stripe, going 5-for-5, 3-for-6 from the field.
George and Oxton were the assist leaders, each dishing out six. Collectively, the team had an impressive 23 assists on the night. Zach Ellis was third in assists with five.
Colby-Sawyer center, Andrew St. Clair was the game's second leading scorer with 25 points. St. Clair shot 9-for-13 from the field, 7-for-12 from the foul line. Forward Chris Condon chipped in nine points for the Chargers, while guard Tyler Fournier contributed six points.
Four Endicott seniors were recognized for the dedication to the men's basketball program. Carlos Nunez, Matt Born, James Leveque and Oxton were all honored before the game, as it was Senior Night for the Gulls.
With the win, EC improves their CCC record to 14-1, 18-5 overall. CSC posts a 19-5, 14-1 CCC record. The Gulls travel to Roger Williams for their last regular season game, this Saturday for a 3:00p.m. tip-off. Colby-Sawyer travels to Eastern Nazarene for a 3:00p.m. start.
