Beverly, MA-- The Endicott men's basketball team improved to 11-5 on the season and 7-1 in the CCC by beating cross-town opponent Gordon College 67-52. Gordon entered the game on a five game winning streak but struggled to score against the Endicott defense and a lively home crowd.
Gordon made only 5-of-19 three point attempts, while shooting just 35% from the field in the contest. The Gulls shot 47.5% from the field during the match, outrebounded the competitors 36-29 and had 9 steals and 5 blocks on their way to ascertaining victory.
Mike Herr and Jerry Logan each had 14 points, representing the top-scorers for Gordon. Jon Marstaller continued his strong freshman play with 13 points and 8 rebounds. The Fighting Scots will try to get back to their winning ways against Conference opponent Anna Maria on Thursday.
The Gulls had contributions from both the starters and the bench. Nemanja Marinkovic had 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Josh Oxton added 13 points and 4 assists. Matt George was a force on both ends tallying 7 points, 10 assists and 8 steals. The reserves for Endicott combined for 17 points and 10 rebounds, including James Leveque's 8 points and 5 rebounds in just 15 minutes.
Endicott plays three more games between now and Super Bowl Sunday, starting with a trip to New England College on Thursday, a home game on Saturday against Nichols and an away game against Anna Maria on Sunday.
