Beverly, MA - Endicott guard Matt George (Dover, NH) and Curry College forward Michael Mohrin (Greenwich, CT) share Commonwealth Coast Player of the Week honors in men's basketball, the conference announced today. In the past week, George helped the Gulls go undefeated in the last four Conference games.
George shot 68% (25-for-37) from the field in route to the undefeated week. He connected on 9-of-14 three-pointers (64%) while averaging 17.5 points per game. George also contributed 12 total rebounds, 19 total assists and 12 total steals. His eight steals and ten assists vs. Gordon tied a school record and established a career high, respectively. "Matt has been a big threat for us on both defense and offense this past week," Head Coach Mike Plansky said.
In the CCC, George is 1st in 3-point percentage, with .543 (19-for-35). He also leads in the field goal percentage category, shooting .611 (55-for-90). The junior is second in steals in the CCC (28) and averages 2.55 per game. "Matt is playing well across the board," Coach Plansky said. "We look for him on offense because his shot is on the mark. But he also has the ability to find the open man."
The Gulls are 14-5, 10-1 in the CCC. EC hosts CCC member, Eastern Nazarene tomorrow night at 8:00p.m.
