Box Score

Beverly, MA -- Jamie Turner shut out Wentworth on just two hits to pick up his fifth win of the season and the 21st of his career to tie Rod Amidon ('02) for the lead in career victories. He was supported by stellar defense and a persistent offense as the Gulls banged out 13 hits in the win.

Endicott started the game with three hits and a walk leading to three runs in the bottom of the first. Wentworth threatened in the top of the second. Jarrett Ament singled and Gerald Marquis reached on a fielder's choice throwing error. However, Turner helped his own cause by getting a force out at third on the ensuing bunt by Doug Rose; the first of many good defensive plays by the Gulls. Brent Grenier grounded into an inning-ending double play and, just like that, the threat was over.

The Gulls kept the pressure on Wentworth by picking up runs every inning but the second and fourth. Brendan Tiani had three hits and three RBIs. Kevin Donahue and Greg Allain each had two hits. Every starter had at least one hit except for Mark Vaughan, but he hit the ball sharply twice and reached two other times on a walk and a hit-by-pitch.

Among the other defensive highlights was Turner's pick off of Wentworth speedster, Matt Moyen, who is second in the CCC in stolen bases. Tiani made a diving catch in center field in the fifth inning. Donahue made a superb running catch in shallow center from his position at second base in the third. And, Steve Vidmosko made a great back-hand play at deep short on a smash to his right by Garret Fisher in the seventh.

The win improves the Gulls to 23-12. \#2 Endicott will host \#3 Salve Regina tomorrow at 4:00pm as SRU beat \#6 Colby Sawyer today in Newport, RI. Colby Sawyer will host Wentworth in a must-win game. In the other bracket, \#1 Curry beat \#8 Gordon and \#5 Eastern Nazarene beat \#4 Nichols. So Curry will host Eastern Naz and Nichols will host Gordon on Friday as CCC Tourney play continues.
