(Wenham, MA) Endicott picked up its second win of the season over Gordon 12-3. The Scots hung around early in the game; leading after two innings and tied after three. But the Endicott bats got hot in the middle innings to put the game away. Senior right hander, Greg Allain, picked up his third win to improve his record to 3-2.
Finishing with 10 hits on the day, Gordon got four in the first inning alone but could only muster one run on Nathan Lloyd's RBI single with runners on first and third. Scott Kearney singled to left with runners on first and second, but it was hit too hard to score his teammate. Allain got James O'brion swinging to end the threat with the bases loaded.
Endicott got on the board with three in the third. After a hit batter and an infield single, Kevin Donahue drilled an RBI double to right center. Two batters later, Dan Gomez got a two-strike, two-out single to left to score two more.
The Scots tied it with two more in the bottom of the third. Jordon Alcott singled to right and went to second on a fielding error. Lloyd promptly singled him in. Lloyd went to third on another single by Kearney and scored on EC's second error of the inning. That would be all for the Scots on this day, as Allain pitched a scoreless fourth and fifth to earn credit for the victory.
He was staked to the lead with four EC runs in the fourth. Mark Vaughan and Brendan Tiani both singled sharply to left to start the inning. Erik Fields walked, his second of three free passes on the day. Gavin Softic hit a sac-fly. Tiani, who went to third on the sac, scored on a double-steal of second and home. Fields who stole second, went all the to third on the catcher's throwing error and Donahue drove him in with another sac-fly. Matt Bishop finished the scoring with a solo home run to deep left.
The Gulls padded their lead with one in the fifth and four more in the sixth. Steve Vidmosko had a two run double in the sixth to put the icing on the cake. From there the Endicott relievers were the story. Jon Trowt pitched the fifth and sixth in a scoreless fashion, facing only seven hitters. He was followed by Chris Serrano who pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth while striking out three of the seven batters he faced.
The Gulls take their 19-9 record to Springfield, MA tomorrow to take on the 19-5 Western New England College Golden Bears at 4pm. EC was 0-3 against WNEC last year, including two 3-1 defeats in the NCAA Regional tournament.
