Beverly, MA) On a sunny, warm spring day, the Endicott bats got to work early in both games to put the Gulls out in front early and coast to two victories over the Amcats of Anna Maria College. The final scores were 9-0 and 13-1.
In game one the Gulls put up runs in the first, second, third and fifth innings. Greg Allain produced the first run with a sac fly in the first. Pat Vincent singled in Steve Vidmosko in the second. Matt Bishop hit a solo homer, his fifth, in the third and Allain doubled, went to third on a ground ball and scored on a balk. In the fifth, Kevin Donahue, Bishop, Allain, Dan Gomez, Mark Vaughan all scored to make it 9-0. Vidmosko was three-for-three, while Donahue, Bishop and Allain each had two hits in the Gulls' twelve-hit attack.
Mike Dagget went five strong, scoreless innings to get the win. Jason Newham and Mike Brown pitched the sixth and seventh respectively to contribute to the combined shutout.
In game two, the Gulls had twelve runs by the end of the third inning to take the wind out the Amcat sails. Steve Vidmoko got the scoring started early with a sac fly in the bottom of the first. A throwing error with runners at second and third produced two more first inning runs. With two out and no one on in the second, two singles by Gavin Softic and Kevin Donahue were tripled in by Matt Bishop making it 5-0, Gulls. In a big third inning, the Gulls sent 12 men to the plate and scored seven more runs. The outburst featured a triple by Brendan Tiani and doubles from Pat Vincent and Mark Vaughan, to go along with five other singles.
Jamie Turner improved to 4-1 with five innings of one-hit ball. Chris Serrano pitched the final two innings allowing just one unearned run on two hits.
Endicott heads to Gordon on Tuesday for one, nine-inning game at 4:00pm.
Here are a couple of schedule changes of which to be aware: Suffolk has postponed its game with Endicott on Thursday, April 21 in order to make up a GNAC league game with Norwich University. The Suffolk game has been tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, May 7. Endicott has cancelled its double header with Keene State on Sunday, April 24th and instead will travel to New England College to make up a CCC double header at 11:00 AM. (Please note the early start time.)
