CCC QUARTERFINALS: No. 1 Endicott Sweeps No. 8 UNE, 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The first-seeded Endicott women's volleyball team defeated eighth-seeded University of New England (UNE), 3-0, by set scores of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-XX on Tuesday evening in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament quarterfinal round at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.) guided the Gulls behind 12 kills (.500), 11 digs, two service aces, and an 18-for-19 performance (.947) on serve-receive.

Riley Donahue (South Windsor, Conn.), who was named the CCC Rookie of the Year earlier today, also contributed nine kills (.389) and nine digs, while Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) had six kills (.455) and block assists in the victory.

As a team, Endicott hit .326 (39K-11E-86TA) behind 20 assists from Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) and 14 more via Amelia Beigel (Amherst, Mass.).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 28-3 all-time against UNE.
  • Tonight's match featured 10 ties (1-1, 2-8, 3-1) and five lead changes (1-1, 2-4, 3-0).
  • The Gulls also have won 11 straight versus the Nor'easters dating back to 9/25/2013.
  • Endicott improved to 10-1 at home this season.
  • Donahue, Gilbert, and McAvoy all were named to the CCC All-Conference First Team today, while McGrath collected All-CCC Second Team accolades.
  • Eight of Gilbert's 19 receptions (.421) led to kills.

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 1 Endicott (19-8) will host No. 5 Salve Regina in the CCC Semifinals on Thursday, November 4 at 7 PM. UNE sees its 2021 season come to a close at 9-16 overall.
