Endicott Finishes Runner-Up at MIT Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - A day after knocking off #20 Bowdoin by a 3-0 final, the Endicott women's volleyball team was tripped up by MIT and Keene St., dropping a 3-2 decision to the host Engineers, and a 3-0 decision to the Owls.

For the tournament, MIT claimed their own Invitational title, going 3-0 on the weekend, while Endicott finished as the runner-up, via a sets won-lost tiebreaker. Endicott went 5-7 (.417) overall in sets, while Keene finished 4-6 (.400), and Bowdoin was 4-7 (.363).

The Gulls fell to MIT by set scores of 26-28, 25-14, 28-26, 19-25, 15-9, before dropping a 3-0 decision to the Owls by scores of 25-16, 26-24, 25-14.

For their efforts on the weekend, Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.) were named to the All-Tournament Team. Gilbert closed the weekend averaging 2.42 kills/set and 1.75 digs/set, while Schueler dominated offensively, hitting .370 throughout the three matches, averaging 2.1 kills/set and .67 blocks/set.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Danica Glover (Seal Beach, Calif.) posted 13 assists against Keene State in two sets of play, after finishing with 29 assists and five digs in the five-set loss to MIT.
  • Libero Alexandra Tecun (Hawthorne, Calif.) notched 18 digs in the setback against the Engineers and followed it with seven against the Owls.

The Gulls (4-3) will travel to Wellesley on Thursday for a 7:00 PM start.
