Women's Volleyball Sweeps CCC Rival Roger Williams 3-0

The women's volleyball team celebrates a point against Wheaton.

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Endicott women's volleyball team traveled to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Roger Williams on Saturday and swept the Hawks 3-0 to remain undefeated in CCC play. The Gulls improve to 14-7 overall and 5-0 in CCC play while the Hawks fall to 6-9 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

Endicott's middles were dominant in the match with Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) finishing with a team-high 12 kills while she hit at a .450 clip (12-3-20) while Nicole Winkler (Southborough, Mass.) finished hitting .500 (5-1-8) with a team-leading four blocks (1S-3A). 

Outside hitter Riley Donahue (South Windsor, Conn.) led all student-athletes with 12 digs in the match while also contributing seven digs, an ace and a block in the sweep, while libero Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) finished with 10 digs and 19 error-free serve receptions. Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.) finished second on the team with 10 kills while also adding five digs.

Setters Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) and Danica Glover (Seal Beach, Calif.) finished with 20 and 16 assists, respectively as the Gulls totaled 43 kills to the Hawks' 30.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is now 21-19 all-time against Roger Williams as the Gulls have won the last three meetings dating back to Sept. 28, 2019.
  • Over her last five matches, McAvoy has hit .491 (62-10-106), leading Endicott to a 4-1 record over that span.
  • Endicott is now 5-4 in true road matches on the season while Roger Williams is now 3-6 at home.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (14-7, 5-0 CCC) will play host to Gordon on Tuesday at 7:00 PM while Roger Williams (6-9, 4-1 CCC) plays host to Wentworth at 7:00 PM.
