Women’s Volleyball Tops Nichols, 3-1

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's volleyball defeated Nichols, 3-1, by scores of 25-10, 25-22, 17-25, and 25-10 on Tuesday evening at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.) posted a season-high 15 kills on 22 swings for an eye-popping .636 hitting percentage to lead the hosts.

Riley Donahue (South Windsor, Conn.) also contributed 11 kills on 21 swings (.476), while Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) guided Endicott to its second-highest hitting percentage of the season (.359) via a match-high 36 assists.

Overall in the match, the Gulls saw 10 student-athletes register at least one putaway in the win.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Tonight's match featured 12 ties (0-4-8-0, sets 1-4) and five lead changes (0-2-3-0, sets 1-4).
  • Gilbert has recorded 15 kills three times this season (MIT, 9/11 | Wheaton, 9/23 | Nichols, 10/5).
  • She has also compiled 10 or more putaways in seven matches during the 2021 campaign.
  • The Gulls are 6-0 at home this season.
  • Endicott is 5-0 all-time against Nichols (four sweeps).
  • The Bison are winless on the road this year (0-4).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (10-5, 3-0 CCC) visits Wesleyan (Conn.) on Thursday, October 7 at 6 PM. Wesleyan is receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll.

Nichols (4-6, 1-3 CCC) hosts MCLA on Thursday at 7 PM.
