CCC CHAMPIONSHIP: Endicott Puts Title Streak On The Line Versus Nichols

BEVERLY, Mass. – The second-seeded Endicott women's tennis team will vie for its sixth straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championship title next Monday, October 24 when the Gulls take on first-seeded Nichols in Dudley, Mass. at 2 p.m.

HISTORY AT STAKE: If Endicott defeats Nichols on Monday, the Gulls will tie Salve Regina University's conference record run of six consecutive titles from 1989-1994. Endicott currently holds the second longest streak in CCC history at five in a row.

HOW THEY GOT HERE: Endicott defeated Roger Williams, 5-1, in Wenham, Mass. on Tuesday, October 18, while Nichols bested Gordon by an identical score at home on the same day. Both teams received automatic byes into the semifinal round of the tournament as the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds.

PREVIOUS MATCHUP: The Bison earned a 5-3 victory over Endicott in their only regular season matchup on Wednesday, September 14. For a recap of the match click here – Nichols Edges Women's Tennis, 5-3.

PLAYOFF HISTORY: During its current CCC title run, Endicott has defeated Nichols four times in the CCC championship match (2011-2014). The Gulls' fifth conference championship victory came against Roger Williams last year. Meanwhile, Nichols' only conference championship win occurred during the 2010 season despite the fact that the Bison have won the CCC regular season title four times (2010-13).

WHAT'S AT STAKE: The winner of Monday's CCC championship will earn an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament.
