Women’s Tennis Makes It Five Straight Versus Western New England

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team extended its winning streak to five straight matches on Wednesday evening with a 7-1 victory over conference foe Western New England University (WNEU).

Endicott swept doubles behind strong play from Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.) and Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.), and later watched it roll over into singles as the duo tallied back-to-back victories at the No. 1 (6-1, 6-0) and No. 6 (6-1, 6-1) positions, respectively, to clinch the match for the Gulls.

"We saw a good fight today up and down the lineup," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "The squad is on a nice run right now and will look to take this momentum into Saturday's CCC championship rematch against Roger Williams."

  • Bergstein partnered with Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) to claim an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles.
  • Barnett and Margot Andreasen (Portland, Maine) picked up a gritty 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles, while Jamie Zompa (Marlborough, Mass.) and Alexandra Barmore (Southington, Conn.) earned an 8-0 triumph at No. 3.
  • Gillian Freter (Scituate, Mass.) posted a swift 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles, before Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.) notched the final victory of the day for the Gulls at No. 3 by a 6-3, 6-1 score.

  • Freter has won her last seven singles matches in a row.
