Women’s Tennis Falls To No. 15 Regionally Ranked Babson, 9-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team opened its 2016 season with a 9-0 loss to No. 15 regionally ranked Babson College on Thursday evening at the Bass River Tennis Club. Today's match was moved indoors to the Bass River Tennis Club due to inclement weather.

After taking a 3-0 lead at the conclusion of doubles, Babson captured a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles and a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles to clinch the victory over the Gulls.

Endicott sophomore Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.) highlighted the singles matchups for the Gulls despite being the last match of the night at the No. 4 spot with a 6-3, 6-3 loss. It was the first time in her collegiate career she had played at No. 4 singles.

With the win, Babson is now 5-0 in the all-time series versus Endicott, which dates back to the 2011-12 season.

"I'm really happy with how we competed today against one of the toughest opponents we will face all season," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "The team is now looking forward to getting conference play started this Saturday against Wentworth on the road."

Endicott (0-1) will begin Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play against Wentworth this Saturday at 12 p.m. on the campus of Regis College. Babson (1-0) visits Springfield College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
