Gulls Land Five On All-CCC Teams

2016 CCC ALL-CONFERENCE RELEASE

ENDICOTT FIELD HOCKEY ALL-CONFERENCE HISTORY

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. The Endicott field hockey team is pleased to recognize five members earning 2016 Field Hockey Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-Conference honors, as selected by the conference's seven head coaches and announced today by the conference office.

Endicott placed three on the All-CCC First Team with sophomore forward Sophia Cogliano (Saugus, Mass.), junior midfielder Samantha Crowley (Leicester, Mass.), and junior defender Emylee Wood (Kensington, N.H.) leading the way. Junior forward/midfielder Olivia Larson (Cheshire, Conn.) and senior goalkeeper Cheka Ventura (Lawrence, Mass.) were recognized on the Second Team to round out the Gulls' selections.

ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM

Sophia Cogliano | So. | F | Saugus, Mass.

Cogliano, a first-time All-CCC First Team recipient, has started 12 of 19  games this season for the Gulls. Cogliano, a two-time CCC Offensive Player of the Week this season, currently leads the Gulls with 30 points (10 goals, 10 assists, four game-winning goals) as Endicott's top scorer for the past two years. Cogliano currently ranks fourth in conference in points and third in assists. Cogliano has recorded two multi-scoring games this season, including her first career hat trick at Nichols on 10/24/16 in which she set a new career-high with six points in a single game. Cogliano, the 2015 Co-Rookie of the Year, earned a Second Team selection last season.

Samantha Crowley | Jr. | M | Leicester, Mass.

Crowley, a first-time All-CCC recipient, has started in all 19 games this season for the Gulls. Crowley matched her career-high with three goals this season and is second on the team with a career-high nine assists, which ranks fourth in the conference. Crowley has four games this season recording a pair of helpers. Crowley is also tied for third on the team with 15 points. Crowley's three defensive saves are a career-high and are tied for the team lead, which also is in a five-way tie for fifth-most in the conference. Crowley set a new single-game career-high with four points in a single game at Nichols on 09/15/16 with one goal and two assists.

Emylee Wood | Jr. | D | Kensington, N.H.

Wood, a two-time All-CCC First Team honoree, has started in all 19 games this season for the Gulls. Wood is second on the team in points (18) and goals scored (8). Wood's one defensive save this season moved her into a tie for fifth on the program's all-time list with seven career defensive saves. Wood set a new career-high with five points in a single game when she recorded five points (two goals, one assist) against Nichols on 09/15/16.

ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM

Olivia Larson | Jr. | F/M | Cheshire, Conn.

Larson, a first-time All-CCC recipient, has started in 19 games this season for the Gulls. Larson, the CCC Offensive Player of the Week (09/06/16), scored five goals and recorded a career-high three assists on the year. Larson has registered two multi-scoring games this season, including a career-high five points in the season opener at Wheaton (two goals, one assist) on 09/01/16.

Cheka Ventura | Sr. | GK | Lawrence, Mass.

Ventura, a two-time All-CCC recipient, has started in all 19 games for the Gulls this season. Ventura is 11-8 in goal (9-3 CCC) with 107 saves and four shutouts on the year. She recently surpassed current assistant coach, Chelsea DeFeo '09, for fourth on the program's all-time list with 267 career saves. Ventura has four games recording 10+ saves this season, including a season-high 13 at No. 16 nationally-ranked Babson. Ventura, the 2014 Co-Rookie of the Year, also earned a First Team selection in 2014 season.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Gulls (11-8 overall) earned the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament after posting a 9-3 record in CCC play. Endicott will host No. 3 Western New England in the CCC Semifinals on Wednesday, November 2 at 5:00 p.m.
