Cogliano's Game-Winner Rallies Gulls Past WNEU, 3-2

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Sophomore forward Sophia Cogliano (Saugus, Mass.) tapped in the game-winning goal as time expired as the Endicott field hockey team rallied for a 3-2 road victory at Western New England University in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Wednesday evening at Golden Bear Stadium.

Trailing 2-0 after goals by sophomore forward/midfielder Lana Felice (Pawling, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Emily Antinozzi (Rye, N.H) in the 16th and 22nd minutes, respectively, Cogliano first cut the deficit, 2-1, for the Gulls going into halftime with her third goal of the season (Emily Hirtle) in the 28th minute.

Junior midfielder Madi Wood (Bristol, Vt.) notched her first career goal (unassisted) to knot the score at 2-2 in the 49th minute as her shot from the top of the crease skipped past junior goalkeeper Grace Trupe (Cardiff, Calif.).

Cogliano's game-winner was her second of the game and fourth goal of the season, as she connected on a deflection in the 70th minute to complete the comeback effort for the Gulls.
