Three Gulls Earn NFHCA All-Region Honors

ENDICOTT FIELD HOCKEY ALL-REGION HISTORY

BEVERLY, Mass. Junior defender Emylee Wood(Kensington, N.H.), junior midfielder Samantha Crowley (Leicester, Mass.), and sophomore forward Sophia Cogliano (Saugus, Mass.) of the Endicott field hockey team were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III New England East All-Region First and Second Teams, respectively, as announced today by the NFHCA.

Three All-Region selections is the second-most by a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) member institution this season.

Wood's All-Region nod marks just the seventh time in program history that a student-athlete earned recognition in back-to-back years.

NFHCA All-Region First Team

Emylee Wood | Jr. | D | Kensington, N.H.

Wood, a two-time NFHCA All-Region honoree, earned a spot on the First Team for the first time in her career after being named to the Second Team last season. Wood, also a two-time All-CCC First Team member, started in all 20 games this season for the Gulls. Wood finished second on the team in points (20) and goals scored (9). Wood's one defensive save this season moved her into a tie for fifth on the program's all-time list with seven career defensive saves. Wood set a new career-high with five points in a single game when she recorded five points (two goals, one assist) against Nichols on 09/15/16.

NFHCA All-Region Second Team

Sophia Cogliano | So. | F | Saugus, Mass.

Cogliano, a first-time NFHCA All-Region recipient, started 13 of 20 games this season for the Gulls. Cogliano, a two-time CCC Offensive Player of the Week this season, led the Gulls in scoring for the second straight year with 30 points (10 goals, 10 assists, four game-winning goals). Cogliano's efforts ranked sixth in the conference in points and tied for fourth in assists. Cogliano recorded two multi-scoring games this season, including her first career hat trick at Nichols on 10/24/16 in which she set a new career-high with six points in a single game. Cogliano, the 2015 Co-Rookie of the Year, earned an All-CCC First Team selection this season and was named to the All-CCC Second Team a season ago.

Samantha Crowley | Jr. | M | Leicester, Mass.

Crowley, a first-time NFHCA All-Region recipient, started in all 20 games this season for the Gulls. Crowley matched her career-high with three goals this season and was second on the team with a career-high nine assists, which ranked sixth in the conference. Crowley, an All-CCC First Team selection had four games this season recording a pair of helpers. Crowley also tied for fourth on the team with 15 points. Crowley's three defensive saves are a career-high was second on the team. Crowley set a new single-game career-high with four points in a single game at Nichols on 09/15/16 with one goal and two assists.

The Gulls (11-9) ended the 2016 season with a 3-2 loss to Western New England University  in the CCC Semifinals.
