Gulls Celebrate 3-0 Win Versus Salem St. On Senior Day To Close Out Regular Season

BEVERLY, Mass. –  The Endicott field hockey team closed out the regular season with a 3-0 victory over visiting Salem St. in non-conference action Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at North Field.

Before the game the Gulls honored senior goalkeeper Cheka Ventura (Lawrence, Mass.) and senior defender Emily Paladino (North Reading, Mass.) in the 2016 Senior Day ceremony.

Junior midfielder Madi Wood (Bristol, Vt.) notched her third goal of the season on a feed from sophomore forward Sophia Cogliano (Saugus, Mass.) to give the Gulls a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute.

Freshman forward Julie Champigny (Acton, Mass.) added a pair of insurance goals in the 63rd and 65th minutes, respectively.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott out-shot Salem St., 35-0, including a 22-0 margin on goal.
  • Cogliano leads the Gulls with 30 points (10 goals, 10 assists) this season.
  • Cogliano registered her second multi-assist game of the season.
  • Champigny tallied her second career game with a multi-goal effort as she scored her fourth and fifth markers of the year.
  • Junior forward Olivia Larson (Cheshire, Conn.) picked up her third assist of the season.
  • Ventura did not have to make any saves as she improved to 11-8 on the season and earned her fourth shutout of the season (sixth career).

FOR THE FOES

  • Senior goalkeeper Carolyn Woodin (Arlington, Mass.) recorded a game-high 19 saves in the loss.
  • The Vikings are 0-7 on the road this season.

NOTES

  • Endicott improves to 11-3 in the all-time series versus Salem St.
  • The Gulls have won the last four games against the Vikings, including a 6-1 road victory on 09/08/15 in the most recent meeting before today.
  • Endicott has outscored Salem St. 42-15 (includes six shutouts).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (11-8, 9-3 CCC) awaits playoff seedings to be announced by the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) with the CCC Semifinals slated for Wednesday, November 2. Salem St. (2-14, 1-10 LEC) sees its season come to an end.
