Emylee Wood Scores Twice In Gulls 3-1 Homecoming Win Over Gordon

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott junior Emylee Wood (Kensington, N.H.) buried a pair of goals in the first half to lead the Gulls to a 3-1 Homecoming victory over Gordon on Saturday afternoon in a CCC matchup at North Field.

At the 18:25 mark of the first half, Wood put Endicott ahead 1-0 with her fourth goal of the season. Less than two minutes later she finished again in front of the cage for her second goal of the game.

At the 36:48 mark in the game junior Melanie Kaleta (Bellingham, Mass.) found the back of the cage to increase Endicott's lead to 3-0. The Gulls fired off six shots in the next 10 minutes before Gordon capitalized on an offensive opportunity with a goal by Sabrina Jandreau (Winslow, Maine) for their first and only tally of the contest off of an assist from Mackenzie Grey (Carver, Mass.).

Defensively, Endicott held Gordon to one shot on goal in the first half, and two total in the contest to secure the 3-1 conference victory over the Fighting Scots.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Wood has now scored two goals in a single game twice this season (Nichols on 9/15 and Gordon on 9/24).
  • Two goals in a single-game is a career-high for Wood.
  • Junior Samantha Crowley (Leicester, Mass.) led the Gulls with two assists in the game.
  • Cheka Ventura (Lawrence, Mass.) made one save in the first half to bring her record to 4-4 on the season.
  • Endicott is now 16-8 in the all-time series against Gordon, which dates back to 2003.
  • The Gulls have won the last four matchups in the series.
  • Wood led Endicott with seven shots (four on goal).
  • Endicott outshot Gordon, 23-3 (12 first half, 11 second half).

FOR THE FOES

  • Goalie Shannon Hicks (Scarborough, Maine) registered a game-high 16 saves in the loss.
  • This is a season high for Hicks and the second game she has compiled ten or more saves (MIT on 9/7)
  • Briana Kowolenko (Brooklyn, Conn.), Karli-Am Gilbert (Scarborough, Maine) and Abigail Seay (Marblehead, Mass.) all recorded defensive saves for Gordon.

Endicott (4-4, 3-1 CCC) visits Western New England University on Wednesday, September 28 for a CCC matchup at 4:00 p.m. Gordon (3-5, 0-3 CCC) will host UNE this Wednesday for a conference game at 4:00 p.m.
