SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – After compiling a 9-3 record through the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) schedule and 11-8 overall, the Endicott field hockey team has earned the second seed in the upcoming conference postseason tournament, as announced Saturday by the conference.

THE MATCHUP: The Gulls, who are 11-8 overall, will host third-seeded Western New England on Wednesday, November 2 at 5:00 p.m., after the Golden Bears finished 8-4 in CCC play and 9-9 overall. Endicott swept the regular-season series, with a 3-2 road victory on 09/28/16 and 2-1 in the most recent meeting before today on 10/26/16 in Beverly, Mass.

POSTSEASON HISTORY: The Gulls have now qualified for the conference tournament in every season since Endicott joined the CCC in 1999. Endicott is hungry for its third CCC Title and third under 10th-year head coach Jodi Cipolla whose program has reached the title game in back-to-back years and in four of the past five seasons. The Gulls' last CCC banner was raised in 2012.

NO. 2 ENDICOTT (11-8, 9-3 CCC) | STATISTICS | SCHEDULE

The Gulls are led in scoring by sophomore forward Sophia Cogliano (Saugus, Mass.), whose 30 points ranks fourth in conference. Junior midfielder Samantha Crowley (Leicester, Mass.) is second on the team with nine assists. Senior goalkeeper Cheka Ventura (Lawrence, Mass.) is 11-8 in goal with 107 saves and four shutouts.

NO. 3 WESTERN NEW ENGLAND (9-9, 8-4 CCC) | STATISTICS | SCHEDULE

The Golden Bears are led in scoring by junior forward Brittany DeLima (Branchville, N.J.), who has accumulated 40 points on 12 goals and a CCC-best 16 assists. DeLima ranks tied for third in the conference in points. Sophomore midfielder Emily Antinozzi (Rye, N.H.) paces the offensive attack with a 12 goals (tied with DeLima for team-lead). Junior goalkeeper Grace Trupe (Cardiff, Calif.) is 9-8 in goal with 106 saves and boasts a 2.51 goals against average that is third-best in the CCC.

WHAT'S AT STAKE: The winner will advance to the conference championship to be played on Saturday, November 5 at the higher seed at a time to be determined. The CCC Tournament champion will receive the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA DIII Field Hockey Championship.
