Gulls Rout Nichols, 10-0

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team earned a decisive 10-0 victory over host Nichols College on Monday evening at Vendetti Field in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.

The Gulls raced out to a fast start, going up 6-0 at the half on Friday, October 21 before the game was suspended due to a lightning delay and resumed today.

Freshman forward Julie Champigny (Acton, Mass.) and junior forward Sophia Cogliano (Saugus, Mass.) each recorded their first career hat trick, respectively, to lead the offensive attack.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Five different student-athletes scored for Endicott, as the Gulls out-shot Nichols, 37-3.
  • 26 points (10 goals, 6 assists) is the third-most points in a single game in program history.
  • Cogliano leads the team with nine goals (25 points), while Champigny scored her first three.
  • Junior defender Emylee Wood (Kensington, N.H.) tallied her eighth goal of the season.
  • Junior forward Olivia Larson (Cheshire, Conn.) added her fifth goal of the season.
  • Sophomore defender Maggie O'Reilly (Cheshire, Conn.) scored twice for the second time this season (both against Nichols).
  • Junior midfielder Samantha Crowley (Leicester, Mass.) registered her team-leading eighth and ninth assists of the season, which ranks tied for second-most in the conference.
  • Junior midfielder Emily Hirtle (Rowley, Mass.) added her sixth assist of the year, while junior midfielder Melanie Kaleta (Bellingham, Mass.) notched her second.
  • Freshman forward Nicki Thurston (Fryeburg, Maine) picked up her first two career assists.
  • Endicott leads the series, 17-4, dating back to the 2003 season, as the Gulls swept the regular-season series with an 11-1 victory in the home opener on 09/15/16.
  • The Gulls have won the past six straight meetings versus Nichols.
  • Senior goalkeeper Cheka Ventura (Lawrence, Mass.) stopped two shots to improve to 9-8 (8-3 CCC) and earned her third shutout of the season.
  • The Gulls are 5-6 on the road this season, and 4-2 in conference.

FOR THE FOES

  • Freshman goalkeeper Brooke Misbach (Guilford, Conn.) stopped a game-high 15 shots as she fell to 2-13 on the season.
  • Senior defender Brooke Marion (South Hadley, Mass.) registered two defensive save as she now leads the CCC with nine this year.

Endicott (9-8, 8-3 CCC) hosts Western New England University on Wednesday, October 26 at 4:00 p.m.

Nichols (2-15, 0-10 CCC) travels to Middletown, R.I. to take on the host Salve Regina Seahawks on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m.
