Endicott Ends Regular Season Schedule with Homecoming Win over Wentworth

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team solidified their spot among the top three teams in the upcoming CCC Tournament after Saturday's 9-0 victory over Wentworth on Homecoming Weekend.  The regular season finale win for the Gulls pushed their 2013 record to 9-3 overall and  7-1 in conference play as Endicott will await the official seeding information for next week's playoff bracket.

Wentworth (5-8, 2-6 CCC) will also anticipate a spot in the CCC Tournament with the quarterfinal round scheduled for Tuesday, October 8th.  The host sites have yet to be determined by the conference office.

In today's match, Endicott swept through doubles action with all three matches being decided by a score of 8-1.  Juniors Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) and Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) took the top flight, junior Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) and freshman partner Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) won the two doubles position, and sophomores Suzie Newman (Dighton, Mass.) and Brittany Potter (Bedford, N.H.) took down their #3 doubles opposition.

In singles play, flights two through six were handled in straight sets with Heacox, Egbert, Newman, Rhodes, and Potter all earning victories.  In the top singles match, however, Martel needed a first set tiebreaker to pull ahead of Leopards sophomore Caitlin Corcoran (Brockton, Mass.) by a score of 7-6 (8-6) and took the second set 6-3 to complete the sweep.
