Endicott Improves to 3-0 in CCC Play, Beats Gordon 8-1

BEVERLY, Mass. - After an 8-1 victory over Gordon Saturday afternoon, the Endicott women's tennis team improved to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in CCC action.  The Gulls took two out of three doubles matches before sweeping singles play from the Scots. 

Endicott continues their conference schedule on Wednesday, September 18th with a road match at Western New England starting at 3:30 pm.  Gordon (3-3, 1-1 CCC) hosts Clark (Mass.) on Monday at 4:00 pm.  

Sophomores Suzie Newman (Dighton, Mass.) and Brittany Potter (Bedford, N.H.) started doubles play with an 8-0 win followed by an 8-4 victory for junior Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) and freshman Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) to put the Gulls ahead 2-0.  

Gordon cut into the Endicott lead with a gutsy 9-7 win at the top doubles flight as Scots freshmen Caroline Hall (Corona, Calif.) and Cindi Flynn (Sunset Beach, Calif.) defeated Endicott juniors Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) and Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine). 

The Gulls rebounded in singles play as Egbert, Heacox, Newman, and Rhodes all won in straight sets before Martel grinded out a 0-6, 7-5, 10-2 win at #1 singles and sophomore Sarah Hill (Topsham, Maine) battled for a 6-1, 3-6, 10-6 victory at the last singles spot.
