BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team claimed an 8-1 victory over North Shore rival Salem State on Saturday afternoon as the Gulls improved to 6-2 overall with their third straight win.  The Vikings fell to 1-3 on the season.

Salem State grinded out a 9-8 (7-5) tiebreaker win at #3 doubles for their lone point of the match, but Endicott won every other flight in both doubles and singles play in convincing fashion to control the match.  The Vikings duo of Emily Yanchun (Saugus, Mass.) and Tara Garvey (Palmer, Mass.) edged out Endicott's Sarah Hill (Topsham, Maine) and Savannah Deady (Andover, Mass.) in the third doubles match up for Salem State's only win.

In the other two doubles matches, juniors Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) and Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) shutout their Salem State opposition 8-0 at the top position while sophomore Suzie Newman (Dighton, Mass.) and Brittany Potter (Bedford, N.H.) triumph 8-2 at #2 doubles.

In singles action, Egbert won 6-0, 6-0 at #2 singles followed by a 6-0, 6-1 win for freshman Jamie Zompa (Marlborough, Mass.) at the #6 flight.  Fellow freshman Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) and Newman both win 6-2, 6-0 at #4 and #3 singles, respectively, while Martel and Potter rounded out the scoring with straight set victories at #1 and #5 singles.

Endicott returns to action on Tuesday, September 24th with a road match at CCC foe Eastern Nazarene starting at 3:30 pm.  Salem State travels to face Worcester State in Little East action on the same day.
