SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Junior captain Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) led the defending CCC champion Gulls to their first conference victory of the season, a 5-4 win over Roger Williams, and for her efforts was recognized as the league's Player of the Week.
Martel earned two victories against the Hawks, both at the top flight in both singles and doubles play. In helping Endicott to a 2-1 lead after doubles, Martel won 8-4 along with fellow captain Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine). In singles action, she improved to 3-0 against Roger Williams for her career by taking the #1 spot 7-5, 6-3.
This is Martel's first CCC Player of the Week award. Martel and the rest of the Endicott women's tennis team continue their fall campaign on Wednesday, September 11th at 3:30 pm against conference opponent Curry.
