Endicott set to induct Healey 04, Oxton '05 into Gulls Hall of Fame

BEVERLY, Mass. – As part of Endicott’s Homecoming Weekend festivities from October 14th-16th, the athletic department will induct former women’s soccer midfielder Kate Healey ’04 and men’s basketball guard Josh Oxton ’05 into the Hall of Fame, Class of 2011.

Healey and Oxton, whose teams won a total of six conference championships and make six NCAA Tournament appearances, will be the 33rd and 34th members of the Endicott Athletics Hall of Fame.  The induction ceremony, as well as the recognition of 2010-11 Endicott conference championship teams (NEFC - football, CCC - men’s and women’s lacrosse, softball, ECAC - baseball).

Kate Healey ’04 Women’s Soccer

A native of Clinton, Connecticut, Healey was a model of consistency and leadership during her time on the Endicott women’s soccer team from 2000-04.  In her four-year career, she totaled 21 goals, 14 assists and 56 points for the Gulls.

Healey was integral in building Endicott’s successful women’s soccer program as the team reached the conference finals three of her four years and twice won the playoff tournament to earn the automatic qualifying bid in NCAA Tournament.  During her time patrolling the midfield for the Blue and Green, the women’s soccer team recorded the first-ever victory in a NCAA Tournament game for any Endicott varsity program.  Endicott defeated Emmanuel 1-0 in the opening round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament after winning the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship with a 2-1 win over Wentworth.

That season, the Gulls went 18-3-2 with a perfect 12-0 record in conference play.  Healey’s women’s soccer teams sported a .721 win percentage with a 60-22-4 overall record and a stunning 43-5-2 mark (.880) in CCC matches.

Josh Oxton ’05 – Men’s Basketball

For the second year in-a-row, Endicott will induct a 1,000-point men’s basketball player as Center Harbor, New Hampshire native Josh Oxton will be inducted into the Endicott Athletics Hall of Fame.  He tallied 1,129 points in his four-year career in the Blue and Green.

Oxton, a Criminal Justice major during his time at Endicott, also held the Gulls mark for career assists, a record he broke by the end of his junior season.  He would finish with 434 career assists.  In the 2002-03 season, he set the record for assists in a season (141), steals in a game (8) and free throw percentage (88.5).  For his efforts that year, he was named to the All-CCC First Team.

The Gulls won CCC titles in Oxton’s junior and senior years and played in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament each season.    During those two championship seasons, Endicott compiled a record of 55-11 (29-3 CCC).
