PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Host SUNY Plattsburgh scored twice on three shots in the first half and shut down the Endicott women's soccer team en route to a 2-0 victory in the championship game of the Cardinal Classic. The Gulls were held scoreless for the first time this season at the Field House Complex.
Senior Colleen Pepin (Fairhaven, Mass.) and junior Caitlin Peters (Salem, N.H.) were honored by being named to the All-Tournament team. Pepin scored one of Endicott's goals in Saturday's 2-1 opening rond win over Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Junior Chelsea Garlock (Meriden, Conn.) had two shots on goal for the Gulls Sunday, who managed four shots on goal in the game. Pepin and Heather Moody (Dunstable, Mass.) also fired shots on goal, but the Gulls could not break through Lady Cards goalie Danielle Schmitt (Washingtonville, N.Y.) Natalie Wyrsch (Dover, N.H.) made four saves but suffered her first defeat of the season for Endicott.
Kayla Rabideau (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) scored the opening goal of the game for the Lady Cards in the 17th minute when finished a ball from six yards out to the left side of the Endicott goal. She was assisted by Kristie Pageau (Dannemora, N.Y.).
Pageau got herself a tally thirteen minutes later when she got in behind Wyrsch and then finished on an open net. Pageau had gotten the ball from Kaitlin Graeb (Cutchogue, N.Y.)
Endicott falls to 2-1 on the season. They will play at Wellesley in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Cards are now 1-0-1 and will travel to Castleton, Vermont to play Castleton State on Thursday.
