Three Different Goal Scorers Power Endicott by Curry

MILTON, Mass. -- Endicott College got goals from three different scorers and powered to a 3-1 victory over Curry College Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's soccer action. With the win, the Gulls improve to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Colonels fell to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the CCC.

Endicott outshot the Colonels 22-3 in the first half and cashed in at the 33:36 mark when top scorer Coleen Pepin (Fairhaven, Mass.) scored on an assist from sophomore Heather Moody (Dunstable, Mass.) It was Pepin's seventh goal of the year, and the second assist of the season for Moody.
Curry answered back just over six minutes later when freshman Mary Blythe (Monteplier, Vt.) scored her first collegiate goal. Junior Kelly Howe (Walton, Neb.) was credited with the assist.
The teams went into the intermission tied at 1, despite 22 shots (12 shots on goal) from Endicott. Junior Samantha Hardy (Pepperell, Mass.) came up with several big saves for the Colonels, making 11 stops in just the first half.
The Gulls controlled the entire second half, once again outshooting the Colonels by a large margin, 18-6. Endicott found the back of the net 17 minutes into the half when sophomore Nicole Fournier (Milford, Mass.) received a pass right down the middle of the field from Moody and tallied her second goal of the year. Moody picked up her second helper of the day.
Endicott kept the pressure on and although the Curry defense and Hardy did a good job keeping the score close, the Gulls scored one more goal to put the game away. With just five minutes left to play., junior Chelsea Garlock (Meriden, Conn.) scored off an assist from her classmate Vanessa Caruccio (Winthrop, Mass.).
Endicott finished the game with 40 shots, 26 on net, eight corner kicks and six fouls. Curry finished with nine shots, eight on net, one corner and 10 fouls.
Sophomore Natalie Wyrsch (Dover, N.H.) earned the win in net with seven saves. Hardy had a career-high 23 saves in the loss.
Endicott next plays on Tuesday afternoon when they host NEWMAC powerhouse Babson at 4:00 pm. The Colonels will host Colby-Sawyer College the same night at 7:30 pm.
