Women's Lacrosse Defeats Suffolk, 21-5

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's lacrosse team bested Suffolk, 21-5, in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Hempstead Stadium on Wednesday night.

Bailey Sheehan (Pomfret, Conn.) paced the Gulls with four goals and two assists for six points. Mia Smith (Portsmouth, N.H.) added a hat-trick and two assists.

Kendal Kelsey (Queensbury, N.Y.)Grace McAfee (Marmora, N.J.)Jaira Paine (Granby, Conn.), and Clare Wendell (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) all found the back of the net twice.

Abbie Belleville (Salem, Conn.)Leah Black (Cheshire, Conn.)Mia Kaczmarek (South Burlington, Vt.)Sophia Notine (Arundel, Maine)Sarah Pettit (Farmington, Conn.), and Kelsey Sullivan (Nashville, Tenn.) all tallied one goal.

Payton Quirk (Nahant, Mass.) made three saves to pick up win No. 11 this season.

The Gulls raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter before the Rams found the back of the net. Endicott then scored the next nine goals before halftime to take a 16-1 lead to the break.

From there, Suffolk outscored Endicott 3-2 in the third quarter, as the Gulls then rattled off a 3-1 fourth quarter scoring advantage to pick up the home win.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls are now 1-0 all-time against Suffolk (First-year as a program).
  • First career goal for Pettit.
  • Belleville and Paine both lead the Gulls with seven draw controls apiece.
  • Second multi-goal game this season for Kelsey and McAfee.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (11-4, 7-0 CNE) continues CNE play when they visit Curry on Saturday, April 19, at 11 AM. Suffolk (7-8, 3-4 CNE) travels to Nichols on Saturday, April 19 at 3 PM.
