Women's Lacrosse Bests RIT, 15-11

TROY, N.Y. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team defeated Rochester Institute of Technology, 15-11, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Renwyck Field.

Leah Black (Cheshire, Conn) led the Gulls with a hat trick, while Clare Wendell (Saratoga Springs, N.Y), Emerson Clark (Gloucester, Mass.), Bailey Sheehan (Pomfret, Conn.), and Mia Samarjian (Stow, Mass.) each netted two.

Grace McAfee (Marmora, N.J), Mia Smith (Portsmouth, N.H.), Ava Amara (Southbury, Conn.), and Jaira Paine (Granby, Conn.) each notched one apiece on the affluent afternoon.

In goal, Payton Quirk (Nahant, Mass.) turned away six shots during the contest.

After initially trailing 1-0, Endicott pulled ahead in the first quarter thanks to five goals from Clark (two), Wendell, Black, and McAfee.

The Tigers inched their way back in the fourth, but the Gulls eventually iced the contest with goals from Smith, Samarjian, and Amara to secure the win on the road (15-11).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls evened the all-time series at 1-1.
  • Clark and Black are tied for the team-lead in goals with nine each.
  • Second hat trick of the season for Black (fifth career).
  • Quirk improved her record to 2-2 on the season.
  • Paine now has a goal in every game this season.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (2-2) kicks off their spring break trip in Panama City, Fla. against Wesleyan on Monday, March 17 in an 8 PM contest. RIT (3-1) heads to Stevenson on Wednesday, March 12 for a 3 PM matchup.
