Women’s Lacrosse Breezes Past Hartford On Senior Day, 20-4

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team knocked off Hartford, 20-4, in a non-conference Senior Day affair at Hempstead Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the contest, Lydia Akins (Edina, Minn), Matilda Darrah (Dover, N.H.), Megan Flandreau (Bellevue, Wash.), Jennifer McLaughlin (Westford, Mass.), Jaira Paine (Granby, Conn.), Sophie Spaulding (Scituate, Mass.), and Nora Staunton (Bloomfield, Conn.) were all honored for their contributions to the program and Endicott College community. 

The Gulls got off to a quick start, receiving three goals in the first three minutes of play from Kiana Napolitano (Revere, Mass.) (2) and Clare Wendell (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.)

After the Hawks netted a pair, the Blue and Green responded with five unanswered from Emerson Clark (Gloucester, Mass.) (3), Napolitano (2), and Paine to end the first quarter with an 8-2 advantage.

Over the next three quarters of play, the Gulls outscored the Hawks 12-2 to take the contest by a score of 20-4. The 12-2 spurt was spearheaded by Abbie Belleville (Salem, Conn.) and Paine, who each netted two amidst the run. Leah Black (Cheshire, Conn.), Darrah, Grace McAfee (Marmora, N.J.), Flandreau, Annabelle Gray (Londonderry, Vt.), Spaulding, and Wendell also each registered a tally during the burst.

Between the pipes, Akins saved three shots to advance to 7-5 on the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls are 3-2 at The Nest.
  • This was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
  • The Blue and Green have recorded 20+ goals in all three contests during the current win streak.
  • Darrah's senior day tally was her second this season and the eighth of her career.
  • Clark, Napolitano, and Paine each recorded a hat trick in the contest.

Endicott (7-5, 3-0 CCC) visits the University of New England (UNE) on Wednesday, April 10 at 7:00 PM. Hartford (4-6) welcomes Wentworth on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
